WoodWing NextWave Tour hitting Bangkok big-time!
The second NextWave event in the Asia Pacific region has turned out to be a huge success.
Over 200 attendees came from all over Thailand and even all the way from Kuala Lumpur to experience presentations from our Gold Certified partner, ColourDoctor. Adobe's Community Leader in Thailand, Kajorn Bhirakit, gave a presentation about the newly released Adobe Creative Suite 6. Adobe's Benny Sriphet presented the latest information regarding Adobe's Digital Publishing suite. Tablet publishing is alive and kicking in Indonesia. Publishers here are not afraid to go for new opportunities and to innovate. Kompas Gramedia alone has 8 tablet apps in the app store and publishes daily not only to the iPad but also to Android and RIM's Playbook. Other publishers have followed suit with Media Indonesia, MRA, Tempo, Detik.com and Bali Post all having launched tablet apps with WoodWing. read more >>
Asian newspapers moving to 2.0 tablet editions
Asia has been a hotbed for newspaper iPad (and other tablet platform) editions right from when the iPad came out in 2010 and other tablets emerged after that. In Indonesia, Kompas Gramedia was the first daily newspaper in Asia on the iPad. In Hong Kong, the South China Morning Post was the first English daily newspaper in Asia on the iPad. In WoodWing Asia Pacific's backyard of Malaysia the newspaper publishers have also been quick to embrace the iPad and other tablets. The Star successfully launched first on the iPad, followed closely by the New Straits Times Press who launched three daily apps: Harian Metro, Berita Harian and the New Straits Times. read more >>

iPad & Editorial Workflow
A lot has been written about the iPad since (and before) it made its debut in April in the United States. Sales have been a tremendous success and there is a constant push in areas where Apple has not launched it to start selling it as soon as possible. The iPad has been hailed by many in the publishing industry (most notably Rupert Murdoch) as the saviour of the industry. And I think they are right. Even though I must admit I was a sceptic at first, once I held one in my hands and really started using it I felt its potential impact. Not only to the publishing industry but to the way people use and interact with a computer. Because that is what it is, and a quite powerful one at that. read more >>
